“Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.”
— Harriet Tubman
“Without new visions, we don’t know what to build, only what to knock down. We not only end up confused, rudderless, and cynical, but we forget that making a revolution is not a series of clever maneuvers and tactics, but a process that can and must transform us” (Kelley, 2002, p. xii).
Visioning is a central part of changemaking and requires imagination. Visioning is a way we can see ourselves out of current realities into infinite possibilities. Finding new and creative ways to support ourselves and our communities is how we not only survive but thrive. As you reflect on your life and the months and years ahead, how do you envision your Afrofuture in a world where you and your community thrive? What possibilities, dreams, and transformations do you see for yourself and your community?
